How many books do you read at one time?
If you are like me and love to read.. I bet you read more than one book at a time. I love reading so picking to read one book at a time to some may seem easy, but that's not the deal for me.
Combine the passion for books with my ADHD.. one book at a time isn't possible.
According to a Reddit post, readers generally agree that 3–15 books is an acceptable number to read at once. A Quora user says they read a minimum of 3–4 books at once, and often up to 10.
Let me begin to share the reading logic to my personal reading madness. I pick two books to read and one to listen to. Now... let's be clear, I choose them from two different genres. One fiction and the other non-fiction. With a hard "BUT", if someone brings my attention to a great book they are reading... then I start that one too!
If it's not a podcast then it's an audible for the times I can't hold a book.
So you would say, "Faith, sounds like you read hundreds of books per year. "
Well...truth be told
I finish reading around 50-60 books per year . As far as audible goes.. that's about 12-20 per year. To some.. my average is a lot. However I know there's other book lovers who double and then some over my average.
Being transparent, I am aware my average number of books I read per year is low.
If you didn't know;
According to a 2023 poll, the average person reads eight books per month, or almost 100 books per year. A 2021 report from KCM states that the average American read 12.6 books in 2021, which is down from 15.6 books per year in 2016. In 2023, a survey by The Economist found that 54% of respondents read or listened to a book, with an average of 11 books read.
